Project in the spotlight: Vandewiele Experience Center

Snoeck - specialized in this subject, the production and installation of steel structures - is very proud to have Vandewiele NV already more to be allowed to support the construction of new steel structures or complex ones adaptation works on the entire site.

Vandewiele NV is a global player in the development and production of high-tech machines for the textile sector, with a strong emphasis on the carpet industry. The West-Flemish company - with headquarters in Marke near Kortrijk
- plentifully sets out the future-oriented guidelines for the textile industry to focus on research, innovation and digitization. By creatively using the separate areas of mechanics, electronics and information technology bring together in the field of mechatronics, created for Vandewiele endless possibilities to further shape pioneering work in the sector to give. In addition to the focus on the textile industry, Vandewiele also keeps its finger on it the pulse in many other sectors where mechatronics can be applied, such as in the automotive industry. Vandewiele has more than 3000 worldwide employs people, 700 of them in Belgium.

To further shape Vandewiele's leadership role, CEO Charles decided Beauduin in 2018 to proceed with the creation of the Vandewiele Experience Center in Marke: an experience center for customers from all over the world to receive the whole world in style and to introduce them to the far-reaching possibilities of what is called Industry 4.0 in Flanders.

Architectural firm Sileghem & Partners from Zwevegem succeeded in a building to be designed consisting of 3 separate sub-buildings that fit in seamlessly overlap. The majority of the new site includes a showroom of almost 7000 m² where various state of the art machines from Vandewiele be set up and able to be effective for the result immediately to the customer. The 85 m long hall was split into 2 impressive ones half-timbered spans of 40 m each, separated in the middle by columns with an integrated passerelle at 6m height, which allows for the open character from the showroom. Remarkable eye catcher is the use of grass carpet - produced by Vandewiele itself - over the entire length of this passerelle. The second sub-building comprises the visitor center and is located in line with the showroom. Here customers can get acquainted with the various possibilities and end products of the textile machines.

Finally, the necessary landscape offices were installed in the front of the building and meeting rooms provided, in order to make customer and staff in a pleasant to bring the framework together. On the one hand, the protruding effect is striking from the office department and on the other hand the skybox that is provided on the roof of the site, which allows to network with customers and enjoy in the meantime from the magnificent view of the region.

Snoeck - specialized in this subject, the production and installation of steel structures - is immensely proud to have Vandewiele NV already more to be allowed to support the construction of new steel structures or complex ones adaptation works on the entire site.

The challenges for this project were numerous and not to be underestimated. In addition to a short lead time (10 months to completion) which of course accompanied went with strict planning and phasing there are, after all, the necessary technical obstacles to overcome. For example, the 40 m long ones served half-timbered trusses for one part of the showroom to be mounted, taking into account the presence of existing fixed machines that not be moved.

In addition to placing the steel structure Snoeck was also responsible for the elaboration, placement and coordination of prefab isolated concrete panels, sandwich and rock wool panels, precast concrete steps, fire-resistant paintwork and fire-resistant sectional doors and doors, skylights and domes, steeldeck, insulation and roof sealing, placement of cobbles and various finish. Also the feedback with others parties via BIM technology was purchased by Snoeck made thanks to. The realization of all this in such a short period of time was only achievable for the sake of performing as much as possible all steps in the construction process in-house. This principle of vertical integration is applied as a philosophy in all companies from the Willy Naessens Group, including Snoeck belongs.

The apotheosis of all this hard work took place in October 2019 during the Vandewiele Experience Days: one week customers from all continents of the world were invited to discover the brand new Experience Center. The Responses were extremely positive and confirm the direction with which the new complex was taken.
